Normal weather conditions outside of extreme hail and storm activity should not affect your Move Up connection.
The recommended download speed for households playing online multiplayer gaming, 4K streaming, web surfing, email, social networking, sharing large files and live streaming video is of 150 Mbps for up to five connected devices. High upload speeds are also critical for people working remotely from home, as upload speeds would impact things like screen sharing and online conference calls.
Gigabit speed internet is shorthand for broadband service with up to gigabit-per-second download speeds. It's been around for only a few years, and in only a few cities in Australia, but it's the future of internet connectivity. Compared to standard cable-based broadband packages, which offer download speeds of 20 to 100 Mbps, Gigabit Internet transmits data up to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) — or 1,000 megabits per second (Mbps).
Yes, speeds will vary based on your modem! If you have a Unlimited plan, we aim to provide 150Mbps using standard Access Point (AP) and Gigabit speed will require a WiFi6 capable access point.
We don't offer WiFi6 routers because the ones we can get through our suppliers are enterprise grade. Good but not really for residential purposes. There's a huge range of WiFi6 routers out there and the best for you would depend on personal pricing and functionality preferences.
If you wish to use your own modem, you'll need to make sure your modem is not locked to a particular network - you can do so by contacting your former provider. You'll also need to make sure the modem is compatible with gigabit speed for best results.
Gigabit speed will require a WiFi6 capable modem.
technology

Technology

Differently from NBN or 5G, Move Up instals a high speed backbone into the building and a dedicated cabled connection to each unit, which allows residents to access Move Up's super fast speed internet.
Move Up provides home broadband services via a 5GmmWave fixed wireless network. Instead of using a cable like ADSL and fibre broadband, fixed wireless brings the Internet signal to your home or office via radio waves. This means a radio antenna (or ‘receiver’) is installed on the roof of your premises, which communicates with the nearest base station to provide you Internet access.
Move Up can reach internet speeds of up to 1,000Mbps (Gigabit) on its Unlimited plan, being ten times faster and more reliable than a high-end NBN plan. Gigabit speed will require a WiFi6 capable access point.
Latency will typically be under 10ms but not guaranteed on a residential service.
Move Up has its own network, and has interconnect capacity with all the major carriers.
